Bicycle Frame Design

To design a true custom frame requires great skill and in depth knowledge, qualities that are not easily found today. There are many variables including frame materials and construction techniques, frame geometry and design.

Our design process takes into consideration:

• Characteristics of the rider, all the data gathered when carrying out the bike fitting. Remember it is the bike that must fit the rider and not the rider the bike.
• Frame materials
• Tube profiles and design
• Weight of the rider
• Riding style of the rider
• Discipline /use of the final bicycle

There are various factors in the actual geometry of the frame that we look at;

• Top tube length [linked to riders reach]
• Head tube [linked to the relationship of the drop from top of saddle to top of the handle bars]
• Seat angle [linked to the relationship of upper to lower leg structure and the frame use]
• Front wheel base [linked to the handling performance of the bicycle, how quickly the bicycle reacts to changes in direction]
• Rear wheelbase [linked to reactivity of the bike when the bike accelerates]
